Anna Dudchenko is a renowned Omani artist of Russian origin living and working in the Sultanate of Oman. With her Western background that includes Masters in Fine Arts, Art History, and English Linguistics, she has become one of the most active figures in the Omani art scene. As an artist, Dudchenko organised fifteen solo exhibitions, participated in numerous group shows, international art fairs, charity events, and worked on different projects and special commissions for private companies as well as the government. In 2013 and 2014, Dudchenko was shortlisted for Strabag International Art Award in Vienna, Austria. Apart from being a professional artist, she also works as a curator and art consultant for different galleries and private companies.
As an artist, Anna Dudchenko can be described in one word – versatile. According to her, she gets bored of doing the same style or working on the same subject. She claims that style is simply self-plagiarism, and uses different media as tools to implement new ideas. Dudchenko’s style is a bright example of art without rules, wild mixture of beauty and foolishness, with a touch of humour, madness, and extreme individualism. This artist knows no boundaries and produces art ‘with a cheeky smile on her face’. Her art oozes fun: she mixes philosophy with humour, sadness with happiness, craftsmanship with freedom of expression, and uses her excellent academic skills to explore new subjects.
